When you Car Refrigerator and your family have a chance to go on the road, are you tired of eating the same old sandwiches and drinking hot beer? Having to constantly buy ice cubes for the cooler can be cumbersome and will limit your ability to truly get off the grid. Imagine being able to take away fresh meat, vegetables, milk, and even frozen food or prepared meals during those long overland trips.

There are several different options for powering the refrigerator on the road, because unlike a cooler, it requires a power source to keep the refrigerator cool. The first and easiest way is to plug it directly into your vehicle through the 12v cigarette lighter socket. This solution will be very effective if you are going on a short trip, are driving most of the time, or can use the destination’s powered campsite. By connecting to a 12v cigarette lighter socket, the refrigerator will draw power from the car when it is running, but once the car is turned off, it will continue to draw power from the starter battery, thereby draining the starter battery.

However, the advantage of 12v refrigerators is that they do not have to run all the time and tend to maintain temperature better than coolers. This means that if you only leave for one or two nights, you can turn on the refrigerator in the car on the way to the campground, disconnect it overnight and run it with the car the next day, it should stay relatively cold. As more and more 12v refrigerators are equipped with freezer compartments, there is a need for adjustable temperature settings.

If you set the temperature of the refrigerator a little lower than the required temperature to withstand the lack of power supply overnight, this is good for you. Many 12v refrigerators also have a power cord that can be plugged into the main power source, so if you are camping in a campground with electricity, it can be plugged into the main power outlet when you arrive at your destination.
